Dynamic Tagging

I wanted to test this out to see how it goes, it is about transmitting real time information through tags on an object.
We constantly use many kinds of tags in our daily life , the simplest being the bar-code, now RF-ID tags are starting to become common .........The thing about all these tags is that the information they display is static, meaning you decide at first what you want to display and then print it or embed it into the tag and you can access the information about it," Dynamic tags"are all about supplying real time information about the object.

For example say a floor supervisor in a workshop may need to instruct the technicians on what settings to use in a particular tool, the using a dynamic tag on the tool he can get information about the rpm etc of the tool. this information will be augumented with his actual vision as an overlay and he can see the data right next to the device, by using similar tags on other things he can get relevant information about them just by glancing at them

Another example is these tags being used by health care professionals , they can just glance over the patients and then see the required statistics.

There can be many more uses for such a device

I am planning to construct such a tag by using LED's ,photodiodes and web cams for communication, for the initial device i will be using a web cam and then overlay information on its output

UPDATE: i have finalized the hardware for the tagging system, this is the list of parts to make a ta which shows temperature

ATtiny13 microcontroller
led red ,blue green
photodiode bpw 34
lm 35 temperature sensor
lithium cells for power
normal vga webcam
software i will be using is processing to interface with the webcam

i will make an armband with this tag built in so that it can strapped to the wrist to measure temperature

I will post pictures as soon as i get home after the exams.

thats all for now
